Rep. Morgan McGarvey honored Breonna Taylor on the House floor Tuesday, marking five years since she was killed by Louisville police.
Taylor, 26, was shot during a no-knock search warrant at her apartment in 2020, sparking local and national protests.
In the years since, there have been efforts for change surrounding policing, transparency, and no-knock warrant bans.
Officer Brett Hankison was convicted of federal civil rights violations for his actions during the raid and will be sentenced next month.
McGarvey emphasized the importance of speaking out against injustice.
"In the face of injustice, we cannot be silent," said McGarvey. "We must speak up. We must say her name. Breonna Taylor."
