Congressional App Challenge
The Congressional App Challenge (CAC) is an annual competition intended to encourage interest in computer science among middle school and high school students.
The winner from Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District will be chosen by a panel of expert judges and featured on the official Congressional App Challenge website at CongressionalAppChallenge.us. The winning app is eligible to be featured in the Capitol Building and to be featured on Representative McGarvey’s website at McGarvey.House.gov. Each winner (or winning team) will also be invited to the #HouseofCode Reception in Washington, DC.
This competition is open to all students who meet the eligibility requirements, regardless of coding experience. We strongly encourage students of all skill levels to participate, enabling them to learn how to create their own apps. Students are encouraged to register online and submit their apps by October 24.
The CAC is open to all middle and high school students in Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District, regardless of their level of experience with coding. In this competition, middle and high school students will compete against their district peers by creating a software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.
To be eligible to participate in the Congressional App Challenge, you must be a middle or high school student at the time of app submission. You may register as individuals or as teams of up to four. No more than four students are allowed to form a team.
Students may compete in the district they reside in or the district they attend school in. If competing as a team, at least half of the teammates must be eligible to compete in the district in which they are participating in. Students may check to see which Congressional District their residence or school is located in by entering the address here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.
