Congressman Morgan McGarvey Named to Powerful House Budget Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 23, 2025) – Today, Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) announced that he has been named to the House Budget Committee, which is responsible for setting annual federal spending and revenue levels – including overseeing the budget reconciliation process. Former Representative John Yarmuth, who represented Kentucky’s Third Congressional District, chaired the House Budget Committee from 2019 - 2023.
“I am honored to join the House Budget Committee, which will allow me to work on balancing our country’s budget and put me squarely on the front line to fight back against Donald Trump’s attempts to raise costs for working families in Louisville while handing out tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk,” said Rep. Morgan McGarvey. “Throughout my time in Congress, I have always focused on doing the most good for the greatest number of Louisvillians, and this new role will give me the opportunity to get more done for my hometown.”
“I am pleased to welcome Congressman McGarvey to the House Budget Committee. He has been a steadfast advocate for working families, and I am confident his dedication and expertise will be invaluable as we work together to advance policies that provide real opportunities and support for hardworking Americans,” said Rep. Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee.
