Rep. Morgan McGarvey to visit revitalization project in west Louisville
OneWest says the congressman will tour a mixed-use revitalization project on 18th Street he helped secure funding for.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rep. Morgan McGarvey will visit west Louisville on Monday as revitalization projects are taking shape in the area.
Nonprofit OneWest will host McGarvey for a site tour of a mixed-use revitalization project in the 500 block of South 18th Street.
There, he will meet with minority contractors and food entrepreneurs who are helping to improve the area.
McGarvey has helped secure funding for the projects in his district.
Not too far from that location, OneWest is also working on revamping the Royal Theater.
The theater opened in the 1920s at 18th and Broadway and quickly became a cultural landmark.
Throughout the decades, the building fell into disrepair.
The organization said it wants to honor the history and legacy of the building while providing community value.
