Congressman McGarvey delivers handmade Valentine’s to veterans
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A special delivery Monday for veterans, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Congressman Morgan McGarvey delivered handmade Valentine’s cards to patients at the Stonybrook VA Clinic. The cards were made by students at Fern Creek and Bloom Elementary Schools and the Harbor House.
McGarvey organized the effort to make sure local veterans were feeling the love.
“When you read [the cards], they are so sweet,” McGarvey said. “They’re thanking people for their service, thanking them for their contributions and just letting them know, we’re still here for you just like you were here for us... All the veterans we talked to really and truly are appreciative, not just that we’re remembering and recognizing their service, but also that we’re teaching the next generation about the importance of that service.”
McGarvey organized a similar effort in December, collecting Christmas cards for veterans.
