Rep. Morgan McGarvey’s Statement on JCPS Bus Delays

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 10, 2023) – Today, Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement on JCPS bus delays:

“Yesterday, like many JCPS parents, I sent my son on a bus for his first day at a new school, and he didn’t get home until after dinner,” said Rep. McGarvey. “Some kids weren’t picked up at all or didn’t get home until nearly ten o’clock at night. This morning, parents and families woke up scrambling again — it’s frustrating, scary, and unacceptable. Every parent deserves to send their kids to school with peace of mind that they’re being taken care of and will come home safely. Right now, JCPS families deserve to see accountability and concrete steps to make sure this never happens again.

“We also can’t simply pile on or give up altogether. Strong public school systems are crucial to the success of our students, working families, and our community as a whole. We all want to see our kids, teachers, bus drivers, and schools succeed as we start a new school year. My office is here to help wherever we can, and I’ll continue working at the federal level to give schools the tools they need to support our kids, teachers, and staff.”
