Congressman Morgan McGarvey’s Statement on Supreme Court Decision on Idaho’s Extreme Abortion Ban
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 27, 2024) – Congressman McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed an appeal that would unpause Idaho’s total abortion ban, allowing women in Idaho to receive abortions when their health is at risk:
“While today’s decision provides temporary relief for Idaho women and families, it offers no help for women in places like Kentucky where abortion bans are so cruel and extreme a pregnant person can’t get an abortion even in cases of rape or incest. This is outrageous, dangerous, and wrong — and there’s no guarantee it will get better. This is the same Supreme Court that took reproductive rights away from women, and it shows why Congress must make Roe the law of the land once again.”
