Congressman Morgan McGarvey’s Statement on Chaos Within House Republican Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17, 2023) – Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement after Republicans once again failed to elect a Speaker of the House:
“Today, House Republicans nominated Jim Jordan, the founder of the extreme House Freedom Caucus, to unite the GOP as Speaker of the House,” said Rep. McGarvey. “Their effort failed, with Jim Jordan receiving even fewer votes than Kevin McCarthy ever did. It’s ridiculous that at a time when our international allies need aid and our government is one month from a shutdown, House Republicans still refuse to get it together. Democrats continue offering a path forward through compromise and bipartisanship, and we stand ready to elect a Speaker and get back to work for the American people.”
