TRANSCRIPT:
Five years ago, a young Louisville woman was killed in the middle of the night by police officers who forced entry into her home without warning.
Her name was Breonna Taylor.
While we will never forget how Breonna Taylor died, we get to choose to remember how she lived.
Breonna was a sister, a daughter, a girlfriend.
Breonna was a caregiver, working at UofL’s emergency room to save lives.
Breonna was a 26-years-old with her whole life ahead of her. She had dreams, including becoming a mom someday.
Breonna loved her family, her community – and more than anything, she loved life.
In the face of injustice, we cannot be silent.
We must speak up. We must say her name.
Breonna Taylor.
