McGarvey statement on anniversary of Kentucky abortion ban
Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement to mark the one-year anniversary of Kentucky’s abortion ban:
“One year ago today, Kentucky’s abortion ban went into effect, placing Kentucky women at risk. Kentuckians have not had access to a safe and legal abortion for one year — you have to be close to death for doctors to consider an abortion. It’s abhorrent. And banning abortions isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning; extremist politicians have made it clear that more legislative attacks against women’s bodies are on the horizon.
This is a dark day for Kentucky, but I believe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I’ll continue fighting for every woman’s right to have a safe and legal abortion, to receive quality reproductive health care, and for every single woman to make her own choices with her doctor and no one else. As long as extremist politicians are trying to limit what women can and can’t do with their own bodies, we’ll keep fighting and pushing forward. Abortion is health care.”
