Kentucky congressman sees impact of American Rescue Plan funds
Kentucky received $110 million of the COVID-19 relief money to go towards small businesses across the commonwealth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky congressman met with Middletown residents and business owners on Friday to find out how American Rescue Plan funds have impacted them.
Kentucky received $110 million of the COVID-19 relief money to go towards small businesses across the commonwealth.
Much of that money went to support venture capital programs and loan support.
Democratic Congressman Morgan McGarvey of Dist. 3 said meeting with them allowed him to learn how he can best support local Kentuckians at the federal level.
"I found that two of the most impactful things you can when you're in office is 'I don't know' and 'what do you think?'" he said. "You really get to then hear the problems they're experiencing on the most local level and figure out how we can match that with what's happening in the federal government to make sure that we're getting the right resources to the right people."
Louisville received around $340 million in ARP funds.
That money was earmarked for a variety of projects including affordable housing, workforce development, public safety and health initiatives.
