Congressman Morgan McGarvey’s Statement on U.S.-Russia Prisoner Swap
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 01, 2024) – Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement after the Biden-Harris Administration facilitated a prisoner swap with Russia:
“Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, Alsu Kurmasheva, and Vladimir Kara-Murza are returning home to their loved ones thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration’s steadfast diplomatic efforts. I’m so grateful to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and our many allies around the world who worked together to get American citizens released. Today is a day for celebration, but it’s also a stark reminder that there are many Americans wrongfully detained around the world, including Ryan Corbett who has been wrongfully imprisoned by the Taliban for almost two years. I’m continuing to work with the Administration for Ryan Corbett’s release, and will advocate for any American wrongfully imprisoned to return home.”
