Congressman Morgan McGarvey’s Statement on Planned Parenthood’s Lawsuit to Restore Abortion Rights in Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, KY (December 08, 2023) – Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement in support of Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit to restore abortion rights in Kentucky:
“Hope has been rekindled for countless Kentuckians who, for much of the last 18 months, have been forced to live without the long held right to bodily autonomy and healthcare, sometimes lifesaving healthcare, without recourse. Today, Kentuckians got their recourse, thanks to the courage of a Jane Doe — whose privacy, like any other patient of our healthcare system, must be respected.
"Since the fall of Roe, Kentucky's draconian abortion ban has created second-class citizenship for half our commonwealth and caused undue suffering for women in need. It is beyond time to restore equal rights under the law.
This is a great day for Kentucky. And if the court strikes down this cruel law, which I believe it should, today will be remembered as a historic turning point toward freedom.”
