Congressman McGarvey Demands Investigation into DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s Impeachable Offenses
Today’s letter calls on congressional committee to begin formal impeachment process after McGarvey backed articles of impeachment last week
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 20, 2026) – Today, Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) joined his colleagues in a letter to House Committee on Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, demanding the Committee immediately start investigation hearings into Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s unlawful and potentially impeachable actions.
A House Committee investigation would be the first step in an impeachment process after McGarvey signed onto three articles of impeachment against Noem last week.
“Under Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has done irreversible harm to our constituents, trampling the rights of all people and disregarding the rule of law," the letter states. "Secretary Noem has established a clear pattern of lawless behavior, mirrored in the behavior of rank-and-file members of her leadership team and enforcement agents. When taken together, her actions violate her oath of office.”
In the official request, the members accuse Secretary Noem of:
-
Misusing resources appropriated by Congress and engaging in unethical behavior.
-
Repeatedly making false and misleading statements to Congress and to the press.
-
Undermining the separation of powers and disregarding the role of Congress and the Courts.
