Congressman Morgan McGarvey Announces Winner of 2023 Congressional App Challenge
LOUISVILLE, KY (February 23, 2024) – Today, Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) visited his alma mater, duPont Manual High School, to speak with Louisville students and announce Annika Chadha as Kentucky’s Third Congressional District Congressional App Challenge Winner.
“Annika’s creativity and innovative spirit is a great example of how the next generation is shaping the future through technology,” said Rep. McGarvey. “She designed an app that helps parents get their kids ready for kindergarten; as a parent of a child going to kindergarten next year, I’m thrilled to see Annika creating an app that families need. Congratulations, Annika, and thank you so much for everything you’re doing for Louisvillians!”
The Congressional App Challenge is offered in districts throughout the country. Participation has grown exponentially since it was first established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014, with more than 11,334 submissions received in 2023. Winners from across the country are invited to showcase their apps to Members of Congress and the tech community at #HouseOfCode, a reception on Capitol Hill held each spring. Their work is eligible to be featured for one year on permanent display in the U.S. Capitol Building and on the House. gov website. Each winning student also receives $250 in Amazon Web Service credits.
