This funding will support permanent supportive housing (PSH) operations and wraparound services under Home for Good, an initiative of the Louisville Metro Government to end street homelessness in the city. This project’s goals are well aligned with the core functions of the Byrne-JAG Program, and it is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will reduce homelessness, crime, and justice-system involvement by addressing the root cause of those issues in our city.

This funding will allow the University of Louisville to acquire capital equipment including high-performance computing servers, secure data storage, and networking and security hardware to enhance access to clinical medical data and establish a regional research infrastructure for medical research. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because this project will support economic development, improve health outcomes, and advance NIST’s core mission.

Germantown Lead Pipe Replacement - $2,000,000

This project will support the material identification of lead service lines and, when found, their replacement. This critical project will target one of the most important remaining sources of potential lead exposure in Louisville’s drinking water system: private-side lead service lines. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because these lines remain a risk to public health and safety, particularly in older neighborhoods where these lines are more likely to exist.

Odor Mitigation and Catch Basin Rehabilitation - $2,000,000

This proposal would provide funding for improvements to several hundred catch basins in Louisville to modernize the area’s sewer infrastructure. Funding would go to areas in West Louisville and the neighborhoods of Parkland, Old Louisville, Limerick, and the Central Business District. These upgrades to Louisville's 100-150 year old combined sewer system will address the persistent issue of sewer odors caused by wastewater flows and drying out of catch basin traps during dry periods. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because upgrading catch basins will improve quality of life and will have a positive impact on wastewater quality within the combined sewer system.

This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will improve health access and outcomes in a chronically sick area of Louisville that experiences worse health outcomes and healthcare access than the city as a whole.

This project will allow Family Health Centers, Inc. to remove and replace two fifty-year-old multi-zone HVAC systems with a modern system capable of reliably and comfortably controlling the large health clinic’s interior climate. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because replacing the old HVAC units will ensure that Family Health Centers is able to maintain services for the over 13,000 patients that use the facility annually and continue to invest in patient care.
